Hand Picked

  • Invictus
I loved this movie for its message about hope, forgiveness and change. Plus Clint Eastwood directed. And, ok, fine…Matt Damon was in it.
  • The Help
Read this book on vacation. Really powerful story. Skeeter rocks.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 2

December 11th, 2008

Santa,

So yesterday I went to the Alzheimer’s Association Annual Awards Ceremony. I watched as researchers, dedicated staffers, and advocates – including one incredibly brave man with Alzheimer’s disease – accepted awards for their work toward this cause. I was so inspired that when I got home, I signed an online proclamation asking President-elect Obama to please make this public health crisis a priority when he takes office in January.

Alzheimer’s will rob 1 in 8 of the 78 million baby boomers of their memories, their independence, their dignity, and their right to live out their lives.

Just as it robbed my grandfather, my husband’s grandmother, my college professor and mentor, and many, many others.

So Santa, could you perhaps tie a purple ribbon (the official Alzheimer’s color) around the ol’ sleigh this year and help spread the word? I’d truly appreciate it.

Yours,
HeyGirl

p.s. I hope you like sugar cookies…with frosting.
