Hand Picked

  • Invictus
I loved this movie for its message about hope, forgiveness and change. Plus Clint Eastwood directed. And, ok, fine…Matt Damon was in it.
  • The Help
Read this book on vacation. Really powerful story. Skeeter rocks.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 10

December 23rd, 2008

So around bedtime tonight it was the usual scene.

My son was deep into some sort of craft project that involved foam shapes and about half a roll of my new Christmas wrapping scotch tape. And because I stayed up waaaaaay past my normal bedtime last night because I was wired (was it the cappuccino? the green tea? the thrill of watching late-night talk shows? or perhaps the homemade peanut brittle our friendly neighbors brought over??).

Anyhoo, my usual negotiation tactics for bedtime were not up to snuff. My threshold for non-compliance in the areas of putting on pajamas, brushing teeth, etc. was quite low.

So as I stood, scowl on my face, hand on my hips, telling my independent almost-6-year-old to yet again, step away from the craft project and go to his room to put on his pajamas…I realized (thanks to a goofy moment earlier when I was straightening up the toys)…that the whole time I was wearing

big
felt
reindeer
antlers.
